Paraguay A Century of Faith & Community

From the Chaco to Jesuit Missions and Iguazu Falls

Iguazu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Overview

In Paraguay’s diverse and often challenging landscapes, communities have long sought to build lives shaped by faith, resilience, and a shared vision of belonging. This journey explores that story across time—tracing early mission efforts, the establishment of Mennonite communities in the Chaco, and the ways these communities have grown and adapted over generations.

At the heart of the experience is the 100-year anniversary of the Menno Colony in the Chaco. This once-in-a-generation gathering offers a unique opportunity to step into a living story of perseverance and faith, connecting with local communities and experiencing the significance of this milestone firsthand.

The journey continues eastward, offering insight into how Mennonite life has expanded beyond the Chaco, before stepping further back in time at the Jesuit mission ruins—an earlier chapter in Paraguay’s story of faith and community. The experience concludes at Iguazu Falls, where the scale and beauty of the natural world provide a fitting space for reflection.

This is a journey that connects people and place, past and present, and the enduring question of what it means to build a life rooted in faith and community.
