Magdalena River, Colombia

From Colombia’s Caribbean coast to the faith-shaped rhythms of its heartland, Magdalena River Cruise: Faith & Culture in Colombia invites you on a soulful exploration—by river, by story, and by shared humanity.

Begin in Barranquilla, a city where cultures and communities converge. Step beyond the typical tourist path into a more intimate encounter—meeting a local Mennonite congregation and hearing stories of resilience, community, and faith lived simply. Through this personal exchange, gain deeper insight into the hopes and challenges of daily life in Colombia.

Then, embark on a 7-night upstream journey aboard the AmaMelodia, a luxury river vessel designed for just 64 passengers. The ship’s intimate size allows for a more personal, relaxed, and reflective experience—inviting community to form naturally through shared meals, conversations, and excursions. The slower pace and smaller group foster deeper engagement with fellow travelers and local communities alike.

Early in the cruise, enjoy an unforgettable Carnaval-style cultural celebration, a vibrant showcase of Barranquilla’s world-renowned music, dance, and colorful expression.

Continue upriver through Colombia’s living history—UNESCO-recognized towns, floating villages, and bird-filled wetlands—each stop layered with story, culture, and spiritual vitality. Along the way, Jack and Irene will offer reflections and guide opportunities for shared meaningful connections.

This pilgrimage flows inward and upward—toward Colombia’s geographic and spiritual center. Whether you're drawn by history, hope, or the practice of presence, Magdalena River Cruise: Faith & Culture in Colombia offers a window into Colombia’s living story—and an invitation to be changed by it.
