Begin your experience with a cultural and reflective pre-tour in Porto, Portugal, then set out on foot from Baiona, Spain along the final ~130 km (81 mi) of the Portuguese Coastal Camino to Santiago de Compostela

This journey invites you to slow down, enjoy beautiful landscapes, and engage in moments of personal reflection and shared conversation. Along the way, you’ll explore historic towns, walk scenic coastal and forested paths, and take part in optional group reflections led by Fred and Shirley Redekop—experienced tour leaders who bring warmth, stories, and perspective to the experience.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Porto 
Orientation & Welcome 
Arrive in the vibrant, UNESCO-listed city of Porto. Settle into your hotel, explore the historic Ribeira district, and visit the city’s cathedral. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and orientation with your tour leaders. 

Day 2 | Porto
Porto’s Faith & Culture 
Discover the cultural and spiritual heritage of Porto. Visit São Francisco Church, Clérigos Tower, and other landmarks. End the day with a relaxed group reflection as you prepare for your walking journey. 

Day 3 | Baiona
Transfer to Baiona, Spain 
Travel along the Atlantic coast to the seaside town of Baiona, where you’ll enjoy free time to explore the harbor, historic fortress, and ocean views before your Camino walk begins. 

Day 4 |  Vigo
Walk Baiona → Vigo | ~27 km / 17 mi 
Start your Camino with a scenic coastal walk through beaches and fishing villages. A day of gentle movement, sea breezes, and time to ease into the journey. 

Day 5 | Redondela
Walk Vigo → Redondela | ~15 km / 9 mi 
Leave the city behind and follow forested and estuary trails into rural Galicia. Shorter distance allows for a slower pace and more personal downtime. 

Day 6 | Pontevedra
Walk Redondela → Pontevedra | ~20 km / 12.5 mi 
Continue through shaded woodland paths and across medieval bridges into the lively town of Pontevedra, where you can relax in the old quarter or enjoy a local café. 

Day 7 | Caldas de Reis 
Walk Pontevedra → Caldas de Reis | ~21 km / 13 mi 
A scenic day through peaceful countryside ending in Caldas de Reis, known for its thermal springs—perfect for soothing your feet after a full day’s walk. 

Day 8 | Padrón
Walk Caldas de Reis → Padrón | ~19 km / 12 mi 
Walk through quiet villages and farmland before arriving in Padrón, a town tied to the legends of St. James. Optional evening reflection or journaling. 

Day 9 | Santiago de Compostela
Walk Padrón → Santiago de Compostela | ~25 km / 15.5 mi 
Your final walking day brings you to Santiago, where you'll celebrate completing the Camino with your group. Visit the Cathedral and receive your pilgrim certificate (Compostela). 

Day 10 | Santiago
Explore Santiago 
Enjoy a free day in Santiago. Attend the Pilgrim’s Mass (if available), explore the old town, or simply relax. Gather with the group for a farewell dinner and closing reflection. 

Day 11 | Santiago
Departure 
After breakfast, depart for home or continue your travels independently, carrying the memories of your Camino experience.

How much walking will I do on this tour?

This tour is rated as “High Energy”. Expect well-paced walking tours with intermittent breaks. The walk is considered moderate in difficulty, with some challenging sections. The route includes several steep climbs and descents, particularly in the first few days of the journey. However, the trail is generally well-maintained and not too rugged, making it accessible to most walkers.

Double Occupancy:

Standard Tour Fare (after October 15, 2025):

Single Supplement: 

  • $595 USD/person

Single supplements are limited and provide a private room for the duration of the tour.

What do “Double Occupancy” and “Single Supplement” mean for my tour fare?
The price for a tour listed under “Double Occupancy” means the amount paid per person if you are sharing a room with another traveller, such as your spouse or a travel partner. If you prefer to have a single hotel room to yourself, the “Single Supplement” is an additional amount to cover the extra cost charged by the hotels for a single room. To determine your amount owing for the tour as a single traveller, you will need to add together the tour fare PLUS the single supplement. 

Important note: Costs could increase if you sign up less than 90 days before a tour begins
