Itinerary*

Day 1: Start with learning about your heritage – there are two local Archives that may be of interest to you, depending on your family history. In the afternoon there are many options available, such as The Human Rights Museum or The Royal Canadian Mint. In the evening, why not enjoy the Symphony or Ballet.

Day 2: Take a self-guided tour of the Post Road of the Mennonite West Reserve. The Post Road was an important lifeline for Mennonites in the West Reserve. During night travel or blizzards, travellers easily became disoriented, and risked getting lost with no landmarks on the open prairie to guide them. Stops on the tour include: Fort Dufferin, The Post Road Memorial Sign, Edenburg, Neuanlage, Neuhorst, Brown’s Grand Central Hotel, Schoenwiese, Reinland, Hochfeld, Osterwick, Waldheim, and Mountain City. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the hotel and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Visit the Mennonite Heritage village for a glimpse of days gone by. Then enjoy lunch at The Forks and maybe some shopping before heading home or choose to extend your stay by adding an extension.

*We would be happy to customize a tour to meet your family’s needs. Please browse the list of activities listed under Step 2 to get you started with ideas of what to do in the area. Depending on the timing of  your trip, some options may not be available.
