Itinerary

Sunday, June 14     Departure City to Fairbanks, Alaska
Your adventure begins in Fairbanks, the largest city in the interior region of Alaska and a great introduction to the heart of this unique state. A representative from the Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge will meet you at the airport and take you back to the hotel to rendezvous with your tour leader and fellow voyagers.

Monday, June 15     Fairbanks, Alaska
Enjoy a full day in Fairbanks to revel in the unique culture and history of the region. Take a cruise on an authentic sternwheeler riverboat down the crystal-clear Chena River. Then climb aboard the Gold Dredge 8—also known as the “floating workhorse”—where you’ll have the unique opportunity to pan for your own gold! Feast upon a hearty miner’s lunch and then spend a free afternoon exploring the charm of Fairbanks.

Tuesday, June 16     Denali National Park
Our tour will continue with a motor coach trip to Denali National Park—a popular attraction in Alaska. Which of the 39 species of mammals or 169 species of birds will we see in this six-million-acre wilderness park? Moose? Caribou? Or perhaps a hoary marmot or tundra swan? Following our excursion to the National Park, unwind at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge—an elegant lodge with unmatchable views of the park.

Wednesday, June 17     Denali National Park
A knowledgeable park guide will take us on a natural history tour this morning. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore on your own. Choose from various park activities like hiking or rafting, or just relax at the lodge.

Thursday, June 18     Mt. McKinley (Talkeetna)
Relax on a motor coach ride to the south side of the park and settle in at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Enjoy stunning views from the lodge’s Great Room, sprawling deck or elegant restaurant.

Friday, June 19     Mt. McKinley (Talkeetna)
Enjoy Mt. McKinley for a full day. View the attractions around the lodge, take part in some optional activities, or walk some of the many nature trails.

Saturday, June 20     Mt. McKinley to Whittier
This morning we’ll travel to the small, historic town of Talkeetna. Then, climb aboard the Direct-to-Wilderness Rail that will take you to your waiting ship. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the ship’s amenities and activities such as live performances, music and dance lessons, restaurants with local foods, and special programs and spaces for kids and teens. Or opt for one of the many shore excursions at an additional fee. Excursions include a glacier cruise and drive, and a trip to the Turnagain Arm Wildlife Conservation Centre.

Sunday, June 21     Scenic Cruising: Hubbard Glacier
Get a front row seat to view the 76 mile-long, 1200-foot deep enchanting blue-hued Hubbard Glacier—the largest tidewater glacier in North America. The shores surrounding the iconic glacier are also celebrated for their northern wildlife—otters, brown bears, moose and black-tailed deer.

Monday, June 22     Scenic Cruising: Glacier Bay National Park
Cruise through Glacier Bay National Park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to some of Alaska’s unique, abundant wildlife. Throughout the day, welcome park rangers to the ship as they share their knowledge and experiences, as well as host a Junior Ranger program for kids.

Tuesday, June 23     Port of Call: Skagway
Today, we will visit the small town of Skagway, a place with a rich history. The once bustling mining town was filled with hotels, dance halls and gambling halls. It has since shrunk to less than a thousand residents as much of the population left in search of new opportunities when the gold yield declined sharply. Spend your day relaxing on the ship or participate in a shore excursion for an additional fee. Exciting off-ship excursions include a guided tour of the Klondike Summit, a city tour, a gold panning experience, a ride on the White Pass Scenic Railway, a sled dog experience, and many more.

Wednesday, June 24     Port of Call: Juneau
Welcome to Juneau, Alaska, where one of the most significant gold discoveries ever took place. The capital of Alaska is home to 30,000 people and, like much of Alaska, is well known for its beautiful views of glaciers and mountains. Stay aboard the ship or go on a whale watching excursion, a wildlife viewing expedition, a sea kayaking experience, or a Native canoe adventure.

Thursday, June 25     Port of Call: Ketchikan
Considered Alaska’s First City, Ketchikan was known for its fishing and timber industries, when so many other towns were focused on gold. With a rich First People’s (Native) heritage, Ketchikan has the world’s oldest collection of totem poles and an abundance of salmon. Today’s on-shore excursions include a lighthouse, totems, and eagles excursion, a coastal wildlife cruise, a misty fjords cruise, and a bear country expedition.

Friday, June 26     At Sea
Spend a full day onboard the ship—talking to other tour members, taking photos of the scenic views, lounging at one of the cafes, or taking part in an activity.

Saturday, June 27     Port of Call: Vancouver, British Columbia
Disembark in Vancouver—Canada’s third-largest city, with its vibrant Chinatown, thousand-acre Stanley Park, charming Granville Island, and fashionable Robson Street complete with boutiques and fine dining. Some on-shore excursions include a Stanley Park visit, city highlights drive, a Capilano Canyon walk, and a Vancouver brewery tour. This evening fly home enriched with experiences from your Alaskan adventure.
