al-doerksenIn their first year of marriage, Al Doerksen’s wife Agatha went to use the washroom in their one bedroom apartment only to find it was barricaded because it had been converted into a darkroom.  Some 45+ years later he is still an avid photographer.   Retiring from his various careers as an international management executive allowed him to morph into a full time street and event photographer.  In that regard, his particular interests are in photographing people, their dress, their day to day activities, their cultural expressions, their human emotions, their modes of transport, their work, and so on.  Al has published two photobooks With Open Eyes and Going to Market—both books are drawn from selected countries in Asia, Africa and Central America.  He currently publishes a daily photoblog at www.blipfoto.com/raspberryjefe - As of May 2016, he had published this blog without a day missed for nearly 1200 days in a row. Al & Agatha have Manitoba and Alberta roots; and they have lived in Mexico, India and Germany, USA (Colorado) and now live in Ontario.   He uses Nikon cameras.
