Greetings – I’m writing Monday afternoon from Kleine Scheidegg. We enjoyed two days of sunshine, today partially rainy and mountains hidden in fog but everyone is still enjoying themselves.
Zurich was interesting but challenging with so much walking and stairs in addition to sleep deprivation. We were sooo ready for bed Saturday night!
Both Grossmünster and Anabaptist Cave experiences were meaningful. We have numerous folks with walking/hiking challenges – sometimes including me! Kurt and Pastor Peter from Bäretswil church were lifesavers, driving persons as close to the Cave climb as possible. Evening restaurant in Lucern with raucous Swiss music was enjoyed by most everyone and was a group bonding experience. One husband who was a safety inspector by career didn’t enjoy because of crowd and no clear fire exits/aisles.
Tour leader Ayold and the group seem to be warming to each other. The group head phone system worked well as we toured Zurich. Since “over walking” thru Zurich, each time he mentions “it’s an easy walk,” we laugh. Yesterday he announced we’ll walk to the Lucern Bridge and restaurant by saying “Google says 17 minutes – so we will walk in 30 minutes!” He was greeted with laughter and clapping – but he was about right!!
Coach driver, Andre, is personable and helpful – his first trip with Ayold, and a very welcome change from 2013’s cranky, non-relational German driver!
