Many Roads, One Meeting Place

The Russia Ukraine tour is underway!  We met up over the past two days at various places:  Toronto, Vienna, the St. Petersburg airport and even one person (Caroline) who was waiting for us at our hotel in this great city of Peter’s.  All of our flight connections went without a hitch, and the fact that it was spread over a day and a half meant that people had a chance to get to know each other before we actually arrived in Russia.

The initial reviews for this hotel are all glorious ones, and the location couldn’t be better.  This evening after a wonderful buffet meal some in the group retired to their rooms for the evening, though at least half went for a walkabout that included stops in a fairly typical “Soviet style” produce store.  We’re close the Moscow train station, and even five minutes inside the main pavilion showed how this city is teeming with life.

All in all we couldn’t have a better start.   Tomorrow we make our way to the world famous Hermitage Museum, and then we’ll go by bus to explore the main city sites in the afternoon.
