Ireland, Day 9 – Grianan Aileach, Derry/Londonderry, and Giant’s Causeway

The day started out very misty at our first stop Grianan Aileach, an ancient fort (or a place of sun worship?) so the view of 2 lakes far below was a wall of fog! “We viewed the mist and missed the view!”

We crossed into Northern Ireland and went to Derry/Londonderry to walk on the ancient wall and have a marvelous guided tour. Murals on the buildings commemorated The Troubles. This is Age of Innocence and depicts the 14 year old girl who was the first casualty.
