From 1880 to 1881, five wagon trains of Mennonites went to Central Asia along the Silk Road, in search of new opportunities and freedom. Visit Kyk-Ota Mosque, see the beauty of the mausoleums of Samarkand, and take in historical sites. The history of the Mennonite trek along the Silk Road will emerge through journals and letters of travellers, archival documents, and current reflections. To help you understand the culture and context the trekkers fled, spend a few days exploring Moscow.
