Caesarea

caesareaWith ruins of ancient Caesarea as backdrop, our group paused for this picture on the promontory where Herod the Great built his palace on the Mediterranean coastline. Pontius Pilate also stayed in the buildings that once graced this part of the old city. At Caesarea we remembered how the gospel crossed boundaries here–Peter sharing the Good News with Roman centurion Cornelius, Paul courageously telling about Jesus when he stood trial, the evangelist Philip living in this capital city of the Roman province  . . . and much more. After exploring Caesarea, today we also were on the Mount of Beatitudes and took a splendid sail on a windy Sea of Galilee.
