We visited the stunning Three Sisters Rock Formation near Echo Point in New South Wales, Australia. According to aboriginal legend the rocks were formed when three sisters from the Katoomba people, Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo, fell in love with three men from the neighbouring Nepean tribe. A marriage was forbidden by tribal law. Unhappy about the law, the brothers decided to capture the three sisters. A battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back. Scientists say erosion created these three layered rock towers.
Today, we also went to the Featherdale Wildlife Park where we saw wallabies and other Australian animals. We took a hot Scenic Railway ride into the rainforest (it was 38 C with no AC). On a walk in the forest, we saw the three sisters rock formation (top) and the Wentworth Waterfalls.
We enjoyed our time in Australia and we were all still smiling as the tour ended. We said goodbye to those who are not continuing on the New Zealand Cruise.
