Thursday, September 9
After a good night’s rest, we will be ready to visit Nazareth Village, a re-creation of a first-century village as it would have been in Jesus’ day. We will take a Parable Walk and hear Jesus’ parables in a setting where the parables may have been given. This Christian interpretive centre gives witness to Jesus Christ and makes the Bible come alive. Enjoy a first-century lunch at Nazareth Village. In the afternoon we will visit Father Chacour at I’billin to hear his vision for the church and then it’s on to Cana where Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding.

Friday, September 10
On Friday, we will go to Caesarea where Peter went to meet Cornelius and baptized him and his family. We will go to Megiddo and up Mt. Tabor where it is thought Jesus took three of his disciples and where he was transfigured before them.

Saturday, September 11
Today we will take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and hear the story of Jesus and his disciples and their experience on this sea. We will see a first-century boat in the museum and then it’s on to the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum where Jesus spoke in the synagogue, Hazor, Bethsaida, the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter and the Church of the Loaves and Fishes. At noon, we will have a St. Peter’s Fish Lunch. We will stop at the Jordan River where it is thought that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

Sunday, September 12
On Sunday, we will visit Jericho, the lowest city on earth which we remember as the city whose walls crumbled down without a blow, and see the Mount of Temptation. Then it’s on to Qumran to learn about the Dead Sea Scrolls and their discovery. We will go up to Masada, one of King Herod’s architectural feats, a fortress built on top of a mountain. There will be an opportunity to swim (float) in the Dead Sea before going to the Ambassador Hotel in Jerusalem where we will stay for four nights.

We will get to experience what a Lutheran church in the Holy Land looks like as we visit the Lutheran Christmas Church. Before going to Bethlehem we will visit the Garden of Gethsemane. In Bethlehem, we will see Shepherds’ Field and the Church of the Nativity which is one of the oldest Christian churches in Israel and see the place traditionally said to be where Jesus was born.

Wednesday, September 15
Today we will walk on the Via Dolorosa, the path Jesus took carrying his cross and stop at a number of stations to learn about their significance. We will then visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre that is built over the place traditionally thought to be where Jesus was crucified and the Church of the Redeemer. At the Garden Tomb we will pause to remember that Jesus is alive and that no tomb could contain him!!

Thursday, September 16
We will have an early morning departure from Tel Aviv for our return home via Frankfurt. We will take many memories with us of the passion play and our experience in the Holy Land.
