John and Naomi are experienced tour leaders to various destinations and this will be their eighth TourMagination tour to Alaska.
Monday, September 6 Your departure city to Fairbanks. Meet your tour leaders and other tour members at TourMagination’s Welcome Reception in Fairbanks at the hotel. Tuesday, September 7 Fairbanks. Morning at leisure to rest or explore Fairbanks. In the afternoon, we will cruise down the Tanana River aboard a sternwheeler riverboat. Highlights include the Chena Indian Village with bush pilot demo, Athabascan beadwork and learn about the Iditarod sled dog team. Wednesday, September 8 Fairbanks to Denali. As you ride the train to Denali, take in the spectacular views from the observation platform. You will enjoy freshly-prepared Alaskan specialties in the dining car on the way to Denali National Park. Free time in the afternoon in Denali. Thursday, September 9 Denali National Park. You will enjoy a natural history tour into the park this morning with a knowledgeable park guide. This afternoon you can choose from various activities on your own. Friday, September 10 Denali National Park to Mt. McKinley. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you go by coach this morning to Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Time in afternoon to explore this area. We hope Mt. McKinley will have its head above the clouds. ![]() Off to board the ship Mt. McKinley to Whittier. We will be transferred by coach to the rail depot for a train ride on the McKinley Express to Whittier where we will board the Coral Princess for our cruise of the Inside Passage to Vancouver. Enjoy your first night on board and get acquainted with the ship. Sunday, September 12 Yakutat Bay. Our group will worship together this morning as we sail toward Yakutat Bay where this afternoon we will see the massive Hubbard Glacier which is over 76 miles long. Monday, September 13 ![]() The glaciers are amazing! Tuesday, September 14 Skagway Port of Call. Explore this quaint Gold Rush village on foot or by streetcar with a costumed conductor who will weave spellbinding tales of Skagway’s cast of colorful characters. Rafting, wildlife and fishing excursions available. Wednesday, September 15 Juneau Port of Call. The capital of Alaska is the most cosmopolitan city along the Inside Passage; a delightful shopping district and beautiful scenery. Optional: glacier expedition via helicopter, walk on Mendenhall Glacier or take a floatplane trip over the Juneau ice fields or just explore on your own. ![]() Native culture abounds at Saxman Village & Totem Bight State Park Ketchikan Port of Call. Southeast Alaska’s “first city,” Ketchikan, is as picturesque as they come, built on piles out over the water and clinging to the slopes of Deer Mountain. Native culture abounds at Saxman Village and Totem Bight State Park. Excursions available. Friday, September 17 Cruise Inside Passage. Our final day on board is a day to relax, visit or explore shipboard options and have our farewell dinner. Saturday, September 18 Vancouver. Pass by famous Stanley Park before our early morning arrival in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. |
