Panama Canal Adventure Cruise

February 23 - March 5, 2011

Entering the Panama Canal

With tour leaders Audrey Voth Petkau and Terry Petkau

TourMagination is planning a second cruise tour through the Panama Canal. This 11-day cruise tour begins in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and makes ports-of-call in Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Mexico before disembarking in Acapulco, Mexico. There will be lots of time while on board the “Coral Princess” to get acquainted with other tour members as you fellowship, share, have group meals, play games and visit each day. You will enjoy the food and activities on board the ship. You can choose to purchase tour excursions from the ship or explore the ports-of-call on your own. Audrey, TourMagination staff person, and her husband Terry look forward to taking you on this winter adventure cruise tour.

This morning we will dock in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. TourMagination has asked its favorite driver/guide, Audley Nugent, to meet our group and take us on a tour today which is included in the tour price. You will enjoy Audley’s commentary and his love for his beautiful country.

Saturday, February 26
Today will be another day at sea. You will have lots of time to participate in the shipboard activities, rest, read or visit with TM participants and other persons on board.

Today is what you joined the tour to see! The best way to experience every mile of the Panama Canal is, of course, from the deck of the Coral Princess. From this vantage point, you’ll have an amazing perspective on the canal’s mighty locks and picturesque Gatun Lake. There will be a port-of-call in Fuerto Amador, a manmade island at the Pacific entrance to the canal. We will gather together this evening for worship and to reflect on our experiences today.

Monday, February 28
We are through the canal so our cruising today will be in the Pacific Ocean on our way north. We are headed for Costa Rica where we will stop on Tuesday.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica is today’s port-of-call. Uniquely situated between two oceans and two continents, Costa Rica is a country without equal. Its tropical landscape of rain forests, pasturelands, lush coffee plantations and white sand coastlines is set against a backdrop of majestic mountains rising as high as 13,000 feet which is why many consider it the Switzerland of Central America.

Wednesday, March 2
Located on the Pacific coast of Southern Nicaragua is a scenic fishing village named San Juan del Sur, our port-of-call today. Its bay possesses beautiful white sand beaches and ecological richness. The nearby city of Granada is the oldest city in Central America. Founded on the shores of the "Great Lake," it has become a thriving port and community set amid an astonishing landscape.

Thursday, March 3
We will continue crusing north today toward Mexico and will be another day to relax and enjoy the ship’s amenities and fellowship with other tour members.

Friday, March 4
Huatulco, a fishing village perfectly situated at the foothills of the Sierra Madre and the Pacific coastline, is a tropical gem with crystalline waters, coral reefs and uncrowded beaches. Inland, the rugged coast range is thickly carpeted with lush rain forests and verdant coffee plantations. Huatulco, still relatively young in its tourism trade, has a less developed feel from other destinations due to large areas of Huatulco being designated part of an ecological reserve.

Saturday, March 5
This morning the ship arrives in Acapulco where we will need to disembark. Our Panama Canal Adventure Cruise tour has come to an end and we will need to say goodbye to our new friends and go to the airport for our flights home.
