![]() July 12-29, 2009 Leaders: Edgar Stoesz and Wilmer Martin TourMagination’s Mennonite World Conference Tour #6 begins at Iguazu Falls in Brazil and then travels to Paraguay to attend the . After the assembly, the tour will visit Mennonite colonies in Paraguay, and then travel on to Peru. Edgar Stoesz has first-hand knowledge of the Paraguayan Chaco from his many visits there and has co-authored a book called Garden in the Wilderness on the Mennonite communities in the Paraguayan Chaco. He is presently writing a new book to be published in 2008 based on the Mennonite experience in Paraguay. Wilmer Martin, president of TourMagination, will co-lead as the tour administrator. He will assist you with your needs while you travel. Sunday & Monday, July 12 & 13 The group will gather in Miami on Sunday for a late evening departure for Iguazu Falls, Brazil. We will transfer planes in Sao Paulo on Monday morning with a connection on to Iguazu Falls. You will be awed by the spectacular falls that are located on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina as you take a guided walking tour to see God’s handiwork. ![]() Cathedral of Asuncion We must leave this morning to arrive in Asuncion, the capital city of Paraguay, in time to check into our hotel rooms before we go to the site of the 15th Global Assembly of the Mennonite World Conference for registration and the opening session. Wednesday-Friday, July 15-17 Each day there will be Bible studies, worship sessions, seminars and workshops for you to attend. There will also be tours and other activities that you can participate in during the week. Make sure to take time to meet many people from around the world and learn how God is using them in their home countries. Saturday, July 18 The worship time this evening will include a communion service with our brothers and sisters from around the globe. It will be a time to praise God together for all the ways we have learned how he is working through the church around the world. This week will have been a spiritually rich week for all of us and we will have much to share when we return home. Sunday, July 19 Since the English service at the Concordia Mennonite Church doesn’t take place until 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, we will take a city tour of Asuncion this morning to learn more about this city you have been in the for the past five days. ![]() Hilagro Flour Mill Today we will go to the Sommerfeld Colony in East Paraguay and spend the day there visiting their hospital and flour mill and have lunch with local Mennonites to learn about their churches and programs. En route back to Asuncion, we will stop at Kilometer 81 to visit the Leprosy Hospital and have our evening meal there. Tuesday & Wednesday, July 21 & 22 En route to the Chaco on Tuesday morning, Edgar Stoesz will interpret what we will experience there and give us history on the different Mennonite colonies. An afternoon tour will acquaint us with the city of Filadelfia and the Mennonites there. On Wednesday, we will go to Yalve Sanga where we will learn about the Indian culture and how they and the Mennonites relate together. In the Menno Colony, we will visit the Trebol milk plant, museum, supermarket, hospital and retirement community, schools, churches, etc. as time permits. Thursday & Friday, July 23 & 24 We will need to leave the Chaco and head back to Asuncion. You will have some time this afternoon to relax, sightsee or go shopping. On Friday, we will fly from Asuncion to Lima, the capital city of Peru, where we will stay for the night before flying to Cuzco. Saturday, July 25 We will fly on to Cuzco this morning. We hope to have a brief city tour before touring Mennonite villages and farms and interacting with Peruvian Mennonites. ![]() Machu Picchu Today we will take a three and one-half hour scenic train ride to Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas.” You will enjoy seeing this ancient wonder of the world with a local English-speaking guide. Before we take the train back to Cuzco on Monday afternoon, you will have time to explore the beautiful rainforest area surrounding the hotel in Machu Picchu. Do you want to go bird watching or take a walk in the forest to see the exotic flowers and orchids? Another option would be to explore the town of Machu Picchu with excellent shopping opportunities in Peruvian markets. Tuesday & Wednesday, July 28 & 29 This morning you will have some free time in Cuzco before our afternoon flight to Lima. Then it will be time to say goodbye to South America and board an overnight flight to Miami. We will arrive early Wednesday morning in Miami and catch connecting flights to our home cities.
