| Paraguay, MWC and Peru - MEDA (Tour #4) |

Leaders: Dave Worth & Brenda Burkholder TourMagination and MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) have teamed together to plan this tour to visit MEDA projects in Paraguay and Peru as well as seeing the spectacular Iguazu Falls and Machu Picchu and attending the 15th Global Assembly of Mennonite World Conference in Asuncion, Paraguay. Dave Worth, former MCC Director, and his wife Brenda Burkholder, staff person in the MEDA Lancaster office, will lead you on this 15-day journey. You do not need to be a MEDA member to join the tour. All will be interested to see how MEDA has and is making a difference in Paraguay and Peru. Dave has previously led TourMagination tours to Paraguay and Brenda is acquainted with MEDA's programs. Friday & Saturday, July 10 & 11 The group will gather in Miami on Friday for a late evening departure for Iguazu Falls, Brazil. We will transfer planes in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday morning with a connection on to Iguazu Falls where we will stay for the night. Sunday, July 12 You will be awed by the spectacular falls that are located on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina as you take a guided walking tour to see God’s handiwork. Travel to the Sommerfeld Colony in East Paraguay to learn about their churches, programs, their MEDA projects and interact with local Mennonites who will host you in their homes. ![]() Starch Plant funded by MEDA members On Monday morning, we will visit the Hilgro Mill operated by the Hildebrands to learn about their flour and pasta operations. Then we will visit the starch plant in East Paraguay that has been co-sponsored by MEDA members in North America. We will stay another night with our host families. Tuesday, July 14 We must say goodbye to our hosts and travel to Asuncion, the capital city of Paraguay. We will check into our rooms where we will be lodged during the rest of the week. Then it will be time to register and attend the opening session of the 15th Global Assembly of the Mennonite World Conference. Wednesday - Friday, July 15 - 17 Each day there will be Bible studies, worship sessions, seminars and workshops for you to attend. There will also be tours and other activities that you can participate in during the week. Make sure to take time to meet many people from around the world and learn how God is using them in their home countries. Saturday, July 18 The worship this evening will include a communion service with our brothers and sisters from around the world. It will be a time to praise God together for all the ways we have learned how he is working through the church around the world. This week will have been a spiritually-rich week for all of us and we will have much to share when we return home. ![]() MEDA Asparagus Project in Peru We will have some free time this morning to relax or sightsee before leaving Asuncion to fly to Lima, the capital city of Peru, where we will stay for the night. Monday, July 20 Over breakfast this morning with MEDA staff, we will learn about MEDA projects in the Lima area. We will then fly to Cuzco where we will have our evening dinner and lodging in the old city. Tuesday & Wednesday, July 21 & 22 ![]() Machu Picchu Thursday, July 23 Thursday we will have some free time in Cuzco to wander in the old city. In the afternoon, we will transfer to the airport for a flight to Lima where we will get an overnight flight to Miami. Friday, July 24 It will be early Friday morning when we arrive in Miami and get connections to our home cities.
