Ed Epp joins TourMagination
TourMagination is pleased to announce that Ed Epp, vice-president of resource development at MEDA, will be joining our team on May 1, 2008. Ed shared with us that he “has been privileged to live and make friends in almost every part of the world. One of my favorite things is to introduce people to new countries, cultures, people and landscapes. Sharing, even in small ways, my experiences have always been a highlight for me. I can do this even more now, with TourMagination.” We look forward to the gifts Ed brings to TourMagination and you, our clients.

Lutheran Holy Land Tour (with Oberammergau)

May 8-19, 2010

Ancient Boat on the Sea of Galilee

With tour leaders Dr. Tim Hegedus and Lorne Smith

2010 offers you a unique opportunity–visiting Israel/Palestine and seeing the world-famous Oberammergau Passion Play in one tour. What a unique way to deepen your understanding of the Bible and see where it was lived out and then experience the passion of Christ in dramatic form! This tour, planned particularly for but not limited to persons from the Lutheran Church, will led by Dr. Tim Hegedus, Associate Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, Waterloo, Ontario. This is TourMagination’s classic tour to Israel/Palestine and includes so many sites and places that will expand your biblical knowledge. One special feature is visiting Nazareth Village, a re-created first-century village, which presents ”a living presentation of the life, times, and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth” to people from all over the world.

Saturday & Sunday, May 8 & 9

Evening departure from Pearson International Airport, Toronto, Ontario, via Munich, Germany, with arrival in Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon. We will travel on to Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown, where we will stay for two nights.

Monday, May 10

After a good night’s rest, we will be ready to visit Nazareth Village, a re-creation of a first-century village as it would have been in Jesus’ day. We will take a Parable Walk and hear Jesus’ parables in a setting where the parables may have been given. This Christian interpretive centre gives witness to Jesus Christ and makes the Bible come alive. Enjoy a first-century lunch at Nazareth Village. In the afternoon we want to go to I’billin and have a dialogue with Father Chacour. Then it’s on to Cana where Jesus turned water into wine.

Tuesday, May 11

On Tuesday, we will go to Caesarea where Peter went to meet Cornelius and baptized him and his family, Megiddo and Mt. Tabor. We will have an afternoon walking tour in Nazareth to see Mary’s Well and the Basilica and the Sisters of Nazareth. Then we will go to a kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee where we will stay for the next two nights.

Wednesday, May 12

Today, we will take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and hear the story of Jesus and his disciples and their experience on this sea. We will see a first-century boat in the nearby museum and have a St. Peter’s Fish Lunch. Then it’s on to the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum where Jesus spoke in the synagogue, Hazor, Bethsaida, Church of the Primacy of St. Peter and the Church of the Loaves and Fishes.

Thursday, May 13

On our way to Jerusalem, we will stop at the Jordan River where it is thought that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. We will stop in Jericho, the lowest city on earth which we remember as the city whose walls crumbled down without a blow, to see Abraham’s tomb and the Mount of Temptation. Then it’s on to Qumran to learn about the Dead Sea Scrolls and their discovery. There will be opportunity to float in the Dead Sea. In East Jerusalem, we will stay at the Lutheran Guest House for four nights.

Tuesday, May 18

Tuesday morning you will have free time to rest or explore the village of Oberammergau. Then in the afternoon and evening will be the performance of the passion of Christ, an event to be long-remembered. Over half of the citizens of Oberammergau participate in the production of the play which is being performed because of a promise made to God in 1634.

Wednesday, May 19

It’s time to return home so we will drive to Munich to get our flight back to North America. As pilgrims, we will have sung and prayed together and will have become friends as we traveled and experienced the Bible in Israel/Palestine and witnessed the passion of Christ in dramatic form.
