An Antarctic Experience

January 4 - 16, 2010

An Antarctic Experience

With tour leaders Audrey Voth Petkau and Terry Petkau

Our 2008 tour to Antarctica was an awesome experience and we are offering it again on a new ship, the MS Fram. This mid-winter adventure to the underside of the world will actually be in summer time in Antarctica, known as “The White Continent.” The following schedule depends on weather conditions. The hull of the ship is specifically designed to bring you closer to the Antarctic landscape and its many photo opportunities. The experienced captain, who has navigated Antarctic water dozens of times, knows the many ins and outs of this magnificent land. Naturalist excursions make face-to-face encounters with local wildlife a reality. Environmental care will be taken on the excursions. Audrey Voth Petkau, TourMagination staff person, and her husband Terry will be the tour leaders. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this second TourMagination Antarctic Experience with Audrey and Terry.

Monday & Tuesday, January 4 & 5
The tour departs from Toronto, Ontario and Miami, Florida, on an overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Upon arrival at the Buenos Aires airport, the group will be transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon we hope to meet with some local Mennonites and learn about the church in the city and country of Argentina. In the evening you will be exposed to local culture at a Tango dinner show.

Wednesday, January 6
After breakfast, we will be transferred to the airport to fly to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. We will enjoy an orientation tour of this popular and attractive resort town, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, rivers and waterfalls, before boarding the MS Fram, our home during this adventure. There will be an information meeting and safety briefing after boarding the ship during which the Captain, officers and staff will welcome you on board and tell you more about the schedule for the next few days as well as inform you on the ship’s safety procedures.
