TourMagination in the News!!
It is always interesting and sometimes scary to see what others think of you. When a business reporter from The Record newspaper called to do an article on TourMagination, and asked to speak with several of our alumni, we wondered what he would think unique and special about us.

Panama Canal Adventure Cruise Tour
January 3-13, 2009

Coastline along Huatulco, Mexico

With Tour Leaders Wilmer and Janet Martin

Traveling through the Panama Canal is an experience that many people would like to have so TourMagination is planning our first tour that includes the Panama Canal. Wilmer and Janet Martin, owners of TourMagination, look forward to sharing this experience with you. This 11-day cruise tour begins in Acapulco, Mexico and makes ports-of-call in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Jamaica before disembarking in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. There will be lots of time while on board the “Island Princess” to get acquainted with other tour members as we fellowship, share, have group meals, play games and visit each day. You will enjoy the food and activities on board the ship. You can choose to purchase tour excursions from the ship or explore the ports-of-call on your own. January will be a great time to join Wilmer and Janet on this winter break.

Saturday, January 3

Our adventure cruise tour begins in Acapulco, Mexico, as the Island Princess departs for the Panama Canal. Your connecting flight to Acapulco will be scheduled for you to arrive in adequate time to board the ship which embarks this evening. You will be welcomed by Wilmer and Janet, your tour leaders, who will introduce you to the other tour members and group activities.

Sunday, January 4

Our ship docks in Huatulco, Mexico, today. There will be time to disembark and explore this relatively new resort area which is not yet crowded like some other Mexican resorts. It is a place for nature lovers. Huatulco means “the place where the wood is adored.” We will schedule a time to meet together and Wilmer will share about the Mennonites who live in Mexico.

Monday, January 5

Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala is Monday’s port-of-call. This town serves as a gateway to the inland attractions of this Central American country. As with most Central American countries, the population centers are located in the more temperate central highlands rather than along the coasts. Puerto Quetzal is known as the Pacific Coast gateway to the Land of the Maya.

Tuesday, January 6

Today’s port-of-call is Puerto Corinto in Nicaragua, a town where life passes very slowly. The streets are lined with quaint little shops and lovely church buildings. Because of unemployment, some church ministries are trying to help these persons through relief aid.

Wednesday, January 7

The ship will be docked today in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, the country’s largest fishing port, on a long, narrow peninsula on the Gulf of Nicoya. There will be options for sightseeing excursions or you can explore on your own.

Thursday, January 8

Today will be a cruising day in the Pacific Ocean going south on our way to Panama. Relax and enjoy visiting with the other tour members or get involved in the shipboard activities or have some quiet time for yourself.

Today is what you joined the tour to see! The best way to experience every mile of the Panama Canal is, of course, from the deck of the Island Princess. From this vantage point, you’ll have an amazing perspective on the canal’s mighty locks and picturesque Gatun Lake. We will enjoy gathering together to reflect on our experiences today.

Saturday, January 10

We are through the canal so our cruising today will be in the Caribbean Sea on our way north. We are headed for Jamaica where we will stop on Sunday.

Sunday, January 11

This morning we will dock in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Wilmer and Janet have asked their favorite driver/guide, Audley Nugent, to meet our group and take us on a tour today which is included in the tour price. When Wilmer was president of Habitat for Humanity Canada, he was also responsible for the program in Jamaica. He has been to Jamaica many times for Habitat and with TourMagination tours.

Monday, January 12

This will be a cruising day as we go north through the Atlantic Ocean. You will have time to soak up some more sun before returning to winter in North America. You will have many activities to choose from today or relax and rejuvenate before returning to your regular routine.

Tuesday, January 13

This morning the ship arrives in Ft. Lauderdale where we will need to disembark. Our Panama Canal Adventure Cruise tour has come to an end and we will need to say goodbye to our new friends and go to the airport for our flights home.
