John and Naomi are experienced tour leaders to various destinations and this will be their sixth TourMagination tour to Alaska. Wednesday, June 4 Your departure city to Fairbanks. Meet your tour leaders and other tour members at TourMagination’s Welcome Reception. Thursday, June 5 Fairbanks. Board the Tanana Valley Railroad to explore the El Dorado Gold Mine where you can try your hand at panning for real gold. In the afternoon, we will cruise down the Tanana River aboard the sternwheeler riverboat Discovery. Highlights include the Chena Indian Village with bush pilot demo, Athabascan beadwork and learn about the Iditarod sled dog team. Friday, June 6 Fairbanks to Denali. As you ride the Midnight Sun Express train, take in the spectacular views from the observation platform. You will enjoy freshly-prepared Alaskan specialties in the dining car on the way to Denali National Park. Free time in the afternoon in Denali. Saturday, June 7 Denali National Park to Mt. McKinley. You will enjoy a natural history tour into the park this morning, then you will sightsee as you go by motorcoach to Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. ![]() Alaskan scenery Mt. McKinley to Anchorage. Group will worship together and then have some free time before transfering to Talkeetna to board the train to the city of Anchorage for the night. Monday, June 9 Anchorage/Sail from Whittier. On the three-hour coach ride to Whittier, there will be more sightseeing with a guide. Whittier is the place where you will embark the Island Princess. Enjoy lunch onboard and get acquainted with the ship before it sails this evening. Tuesday, June 10 College Fjord. Alaska’s best-kept secret! Here you can spot 4, 5, even 6 different glaciers at once. Tidewater glaciers, hanging glaciers, alpine glaciers and more–16 in all named after the Ivy League schools. Wednesday, June 11 Glacier Bay National Park. Massive glaciers stretch from the ice-draped mountain ranges to the end of majestic fjords. National Park Service rangers come aboard ship sharing insights into the history, geology and wildlife of Glacier Bay. Thursday, June 12 Skagway Port of Call. Explore this quaint Gold Rush village on foot or by streetcar with a costumed conductor who will weave spellbinding tales of Skagway’s cast of colorful characters. Rafting, wildlife, and fishing excursions available. Friday, June 13 Juneau Port of Call. The capital of Alaska is the most cosmopolitan city along the Inside Passage; a delightful shopping district and beautiful scenery. Optional glacier expedition via helicopter, walk on Mendenhall Glacier or take a floatplane trip over the Juneau ice fields or just explore on your own. ![]() Totem Bight State Park Ketchikan Port of Call. Southeast Alaska’s “first city,” Ketchikan, is as picturesque as they come, built on piles out over the water and clinging to the slopes of Deer Mountain. Native culture abounds at Saxman Village and Totem Bight State Park. Excursions available. Sunday, June 15 Cruise Inside Passage. Our final day on board is a day to relax, visit or explore shipboard options and have a Bon Voyage dinner. Monday, June 16 Vancouver. Pass by famous Stanley Park before our early morning arrival in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
