An Antarctic Experience - Penguins
January 8th, 2008Today our An Antarctic Experience tour visited Port Lockroy. We were taken by Zodiac boats to the island where we walked and observed more than a 1000 penguins nesting and feeding their young.
It was a fabulous experience. Our guide told us to try not to take sides as we observed blue-eyed shags come in among the penguins. They eat the eggs and some chicks. They help to keep the Rockery healthy and free of disease. Our tour members reflected on life lessons we can learn from the penguins as we observed the mothers and fathers caring for their young. What a wonderful tour!
